It is about the experiences of a boy and his horse during WW
2. How do Joey's and Albert's lives change during the war?
The army bought Joey to work hard during the war in France.
When Albert was 18 he started to fight for his country.
The army takes Joey and takes him to France and when Albert is 18 he has to fight for his country.
3. Why were Britain and France fighting against Germany?
Because Germany invaded Belgium and France
4. What was life like in the trenches?
Conditions in the trenches were terrible, they were cold and wet, muddy and full of rats. Soldiers had little food and nowhere to sleep

Young men had to go to fight at the age of 18.

Their lives changed because they had to work outside their home in factories, Offices and farms while men were fighting in France.
9. What did the government do so that people thought the war was going well?
The government censored soldiers’ letters and newspapers so people didn’t know what was happening there.
