Thanksgiving Day Thanksgiving is a holiday in the United States. People celebrate it every year on the fourth Thursday of November. Families eat a big meal together. They eat turkey, potatoes, vegetables, and pumpkin pie. A long time ago, in 1620, the Pilgrims come from England on a ship called the Mayflower. They want to live in America, but the first winter is very cold and difficult. They do not have enough food. The Pilgrims do not know how to grow food in the new land. The Native Americans who live there help the Pilgrims. They teach them how to plant corn, catch fish, and cook new foods. The Pilgrims are very grateful. They have a big meal to say thank you. Today, people spend time with family and friends. They do not go to school or work. People watch parades and football games.  Per quanto riguarda la pronuncia dei verbi al passato, li possiamo raggruppare in tre gruppi I tre gruppi principali: Pronuncia /t/  (suono simile alla "t" in italiano): Quando il verbo termina con una  voce sorda , cioè una consonante che non vibra, la forma al passato viene pronunciata con un /t/ finale.
